You might have heard about the offensive comments Denis Leary wrote about autistic children in his new book, “Why We Suck: A Feel-Good Guide to Staying Fat, Loud, Lazy and Stupid.” If you didn’t catch them, you can read some of them in this article and see the entire chapter on Autism United’s home page.
The actor publicly apologized last week, which was accepted by most autism activists, such as Autism United. The autism community called off a nationwide protest. But, in its place, Autism United believes Leary should give a portion of his book proceeds to assist children with autism.
